Title Ideas:Jesus prays to God with much distress.Jewish leaders capture [arrest] Jesus. How Jesus was betrayed.
Jesus and his [twelve] disciples ate a [Passover] meal together in Jerusalem. Then they sang a song. Afterwards, they went without Judas to Olive Mountain [outside Jerusalem city].
On their way, Jesus said to the [eleven] disciples, “I know that you will all soon deny [leave / abandon] me. Wicked men will kill me, but God will raise me back to life. Afterwards, you must go to Galilee [Region] where you will see me alive!”
Peter said to Jesus, “Even if the others [disciples] deny you, I will never deny you!”
Jesus replied to Peter, “This night, before a cock crows a second time, you will tell others three times that you do not know [belong with] me!”
Peter said loudly, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny [abandon] you!” The other [ten] disciples said the same [thing] words.
When they arrived at Olive Mountain, Jesus began to feel very sad [much grief / distress]. He said to his disciples, “Stay here and remain awake, while I go pray!”
Jesus then felt more [grief and] sadness. He said to three disciples [Peter, James and John], “I feel so very grieved [sad]! Please, stay here and remain awake with me!”
Jesus went a short way, knelt down on the ground, and prayed aloud with crying [agony], “O Father [God]! Please, if you are willing, do not make me suffer! Nevertheless [Still], do what you want to do, not what I want you to do!”
While Jesus was praying, the three disciple fell asleep. He came and said to them, “Why did you not remain awake with me? You must remain alert [watch!] and pray lest Satan [so that Satan won’t] tempt you to do wrong. Even though you want to do right, you are weak and can do wrong!”
Jesus again went a short distance away, knelt down on the ground and prayed [to God, his Father with agonizing]. When he returned to his disciples, they were again sleeping. So Jesus said to them, “Wake up! Here comes the man who has betrayed me!”
At that moment, Judas arrived. The Jewish [religious] leaders sent with Judas some men [temple guards] who were carrying clubs and swords. Judas came directly to Jesus and greeted him [with a kiss], to show to the men [temple guards] which man they should arrest [capture].
The men [temple guards] then seized Jesus. When Peter saw this, he drew a sword and cut one man’s ear with it. But Jesus shouted to Peter, “Stop!”
Jesus then touched the man’s cut ear and healed it. The man worked [as a servant] for the [Jewish] high priest.
