Many people ask questions about following Jesus. They say, "I believe that Jesus, God's Son, has taken my sin away. Now what should I do?" The Bible says "To as many as received Him, to them gave He the power to become the sons of God." Therefore, we have a new life within us. This new life is in our hearts and souls. As your fathers tell you what to do (as all Gourmas do), so God tells those who have His life in them what they should do.
God gives His Holy Spirit to all those who believe in Jesus Christ, He Who is our Saviour. The one who believes in Jesus becomes a Christian. We cannot see the Holy Spirit, we cannot touch Him, but He enters our hearts when we believe. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit will speak with Christians even as one man speaks with another. If you don't listen when your friend speaks to you, he will be sad. So it is with the Holy Spirit. He will not scold you, but it saddens Him when you do not listen to Him, because He is reminding us of God's Word, and is helping us to resist Satan's deceit.
The Holy Spirit also helps us to pray. All of us want our friends to talk to us. God is better than any friend, because He has given His Son to save us, even when we were sinners. Because He is our friend and our Father, we should talk with Him every day.
The Bible tells us many things. A child will do as his father tells him. That is why a Christian should read the Bible, so that he will know His Father's (God's) will. A Christian is upright with everyone, even with those who do not believe, because a Christian is a child of a righteous Father. Any servant who is a Christian will work well for his master just as if he were working for God. A Christian man will love his wife and be kind to her. A Christian woman will obey her husband. This is because they have God's life and love in their hearts, and so they love one another. A Christian has joy because he has received a new life and a pure heart and so he wants to tell others the good news of his Saviour. Before he believed on Jesus, he was afraid of departed spirits and evil spirits, and made sacrifices to them. Now he has peace and is not afraid, because he has God's new life, and he wants to give of his goods so that people everywhere may hear the good news even as he heard it.
A Christian keeps away from the appearance of sin at all times and drives out everything from his heart that is of Satan. Sometimes a child refuses to do what his father wants, and yet he is still his father's child, isn't he? So it is with a Christian. Perhaps sometimes he may refuse and not act like a Christian, not doing what God wants him to do. He cannot have happiness when he does thus. Nor will he receive help or peace until he asks God's forgiveness and does what he refused to do. The Bible says, "If we (you) confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our (you, your) sins and cleanse (us, you) from all unrighteousness."
