In the last week of December, the birthday of the Lord Jesus Christ is celebrated. Christmas is the grand festival of the birth of Christ. December 25th* is considered a blessed day throughout the world because on that day the Saviour of the world, the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, took the human form. God the Creator of the world Himself became incarnated.
The birth of the Lord Jesus Christ was no accident but according to God's eternal purpose He came to this world. He came to reestablish the communion between God and man that was broken on account of sin. Listen to the purpose of His advent in His own words: "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Off and on, God revealed the great plan of the salvation of mankind through His saints. This is described in the Holy Bible. 700 years before the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, it was prophesied how the Saviour would be born, where He would be born, and what names would be given to Him.
About 2,000 years ago dawned that blessed day planned by God. Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary, a poor, simple, good, and religious maiden of Palestine. Look at God's plan and purpose! When the Creator of the world is incarnated, He has nowhere to lay His head. When the Son of God gives up the glories of Heaven and comes to this world, all the doors of this degenerated earth are closed to Him. When the rightful heir of this world comes, the dark world knows not the Lord of Life. Was this world worthy of the Holy Lord? Not at all. Herein is revealed God's great love, that the Son of God humiliates Himself and becomes poor in order that He may raise the degenerated man to the glories of the heirs of the Kingdom of God. Brothers and sisters, all this was done for you and for me so that the gulf made between God and man through sin may be bridged over; our sins may be forgiven through God's Son, and we may be reconciled to God and receive the gift of eternal life.
According to God's divine plan, the Lord Jesus Christ was born into this world. He came to fulfill one purpose. In His own words it is, "The Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost." "I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly." It is written about Him, "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil."
*NOTE: Check to see if the Christians use the Julian calendar, which has Christmas on Jan 7 instead (some Eastern areas).
