When Paul was traveling on his way to another city, he asked his co-worker, Timothy, to stay in Ephesus city. Paul said to him, “Teach [train] many leaders to teach new Christians. And instruct [command / tell / teach] people to stop teaching [spreading] false [untrue] messages [words].”
Paul sent another co-worker named Titus to another country. Paul said to him, “Complete our work in each town by appointing elders [leaders] for the Christians!”
Later, Paul wrote a letter to Timothy [from jail / prison], saying, “Do not be ashamed because of me. But join with me by suffering as you tell people the good news about Jesus!
“Timothy, please try to come visit me soon [in prison]. My other friends have abandoned me. Bring my heavy coat because it is cold here, and also bring the Scripture scrolls [papers / books] which got left behind when I was arrested [captured] by people who do not love our Lord Jesus.”
“It was Jesus who sent [appointed / chose] me to teach people his good news! That is why I must suffer! So I am not ashamed, because I know [love] Jesus in whom I have put my trust!
“Let Jesus make you strong! You know how I trained you and other people to do this work! You must train people in the same way, so that they can train other people in the same way!
“Do not be distracted [tempted / enticed] by the actions that young men want to do. Keep on doing right [good] actions, believing God’s promises, showing love to others, and living at peace with those who obey Jesus!
“Keep on teaching from the Bible [our holy book], helping others to obey Jesus’ commandments! Control yourself, work well, tell the good news to people, finish your work!
“I have offered myself to God as a sacrifice. I may soon die. I have been faithful to Jesus, and I have finished my work!
“When Jesus shall come back to earth [the world], he will reward me [put a crown on my head] because I did right actions. And, he will do the same for everyone who is waiting for him to come back [to earth]!
“When the emperor judged me, no other people defended [supported / spoke for] me. But the Lord Jesus [himself] gave me his strength, so I was able to tell the good news [even to the emperor]!
“The emperor decided not to kill me! The Lord Jesus will always protect me from the evil one [devil]. He will bring me safe to where he is in heaven [the sky]. We shall thank and praise him forever!”
