I am amazed to share how God is moving through our partnership between Valley Church in West Des Moines Iowa, Global Recordings Network and Audio Scripture Ministries.
Through these connections, a team recently took six 'Tommy' audio players loaded by Audio Scripture Ministries with GRN Gospel materials to the Kibera area of Nairobi, Kenya. We gave these players to responsible church members from the Thuri tribe. This community, now in Kenya, originated from South Sudan.
The response from this local community was incredibly enthusiastic. Much of their joy comes from seeing this breakthrough of in their own language. Two years ago I had the privilege of creating the first-ever written alphabet and writing system-an orthography-for the Thuri language. Because of this groundwork, we are now seeing a steady stream of new ministry materials being created.
There is also this excitement among the Thuri in their area near Juba in South Sudan. This caught the attention of the JESUS Film Project. In a major milestone, their leadership officially approved a new language code to record and produce the JESUS film in the Thuri language. This historic recording project is scheduled to take place in late October of 2026. For the very first time, the Thuri people will be able to watch the story of Jesus in their own mother tongue.
The personal impact of this work is already changing lives. Recently, an 83-year-old Thuri woman shared her moving testimony with me. After listening to the audio Scriptures we recorded with GRN, she wept with joy and said, "Now I can hear God speaking directly to me in my own language."
We praise God for His faithfulness, His perfect timing, and the privilege of watching Him bring the Gospel to the Thuri people.
Please pray for me, as my heart's desire is to record more material In my own heart language of Thuri, as well as in other languages of the places I may be sent. I live in the US now, but am preparing to be trained as a recordist by Global Recordings Network.
