Jesus was walking with his disciples [learners]. They were going to [the big city called] Jerusalem. They stopped outside a village on the way.
A group of ten men came toward them. They were sick with leprosy which required them to stay [live] far away from other people. They depended on others to leave food for them to collect. They could not live with their families because of their sickness.
Those men shouted toward Jesus from a distance, “Jesus, be kind to us! O Teacher, heal us from our sickness!”
Jesus knew that these men were confident that he would heal them. He said to them, “I will heal you! Go now! Find the [priests who act as] local health officers so that they can tell everyone that you are healthy [healed]!”
Those men left to do just like Jesus told them. As they began to walk away, they realized [noticed] that they were healthy again [now healed].
One of them, at the moment when he knew his skin was completely [all] healed [good / healthy], he turned around and came back close to Jesus. He was shouting joyfully as he praised God!
The man kneeled at Jesus’ feet! He thanked Jesus with many words! Surprisingly, this man was not a Jew … The man belonged to a group [Samaria / foreigner / mixed-race] that most Jews despised [hated].
Jesus said to his disciples, “You saw those ten men whom I healed! And now you hear the words of this foreign man! But surprisingly [wow!] this man knows well how to thank God for healing him! Those other nine men are Jews [people of our tribe/clan] and thus they should also be thanking God!”
Then Jesus spoke to the healed man, “Stand up! You are healthy [strong now] because you were confident that I could heal you! You can now go back to live with your family!”
