1. Is it true that Jesus is God our Father and that He has no Father?
2. Why do you ask, brother?
1. Because someone was talking with me and said that Jesus has no Father, that He Himself is the Father.
2. And do you believe that?
1. Well, I don't know, brother.
2. But how is it that you don't know? The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Yes, He is God, but the Son of God. He is not the Father. He talked with His Father, saying, "My Father." And this, do you think it was only to fool us?
1. No.
2. Of course not. How could Jesus fool us? Listen to what is written. He said, "I come to the earth for the purpose of doing what My Father tells Me. Not what I Myself want." And so Jesus submitted Himself and obeyed all that His Father told Him. That is why He said, "I and My Father are one," because they were in one accord.*
1. Yes, they were in one accord - Jesus and His Father.
2. They were of one mind. But that doesn't mean to say they were one and the same Person. Jesus said, "Believe Me, that I am in union with the Father, and the Father is in union with Me." He did not say, "I am the Father, and the Father is Me."
1. No.
2. But that they are united. They were two but united as one.* When Jesus walked on earth the Father remained in heaven. He stayed (there) because the Bible says that no man has ever seen the Father (for He is Spirit) - He has never been seen. But Jesus, yes. When He came, He was seen. He revealed Himself so that His Father might be known. He was the very image of the Father. That is why Jesus said, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father." Then later Jesus said, "I am going to My Father and your Father, My God and your God."
1. That's right, He went to see the Father. (returned to the Father. Jn. 16:28)
2. Jesus taught that He was one (Person) and His Father another (Person). For example, there was a man who was contradicting Jesus. He said, "Your testimony has no value, since it's only You that's saying it." Then Jesus said, "What I say does count, even though only I say it...but there is a witness - the Father."
Now that Jesus returned to Heaven, we no longer see Him. But there is still another with us, the One Who is called the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is also united with the Father and with Jesus Christ. He has come to help us as the One sent by God. We say also that He is God since He is the Spirit of God. He is not the same as the Father or the Son.
We only know that there are these three Persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and that these three are one God. Thus long ago our brothers believed, and thus we do too, now.
*In countries where "incarnations of God" are taught, this script would need to emphasize the fact of the Godhead being One in substance, but three Persons and sentences incorporated from John 1:18, Phil. 2:6, II Cor. 4:4; Heb. 1:3; John 5:37; would be necessary.
