A long time ago, God wanted His Word to be written. So He sent certain men to write it. His writings were assembled, and together they are called the Bible. In the Bible, the Word of God, God gives us certain standards in order that we might live lives that please Him, instructions so that we should live good lives.
In the Bible a certain man asked, “How can a young man keep his way pure?” And then comes the reply, “By watching it according to Your Word.” The Bible also tells us, “Your Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Thus we find a path for life, a path free from evil.
One of the men who wrote the Word of God, said to God, “I hid Your Word in my heart, so that I might not sin against You.” If we give a place in our hearts and minds to the Word of God, that way we can avoid anything that displeases God.
The Apostle Paul was one of the men who wrote the Word of God. He also taught it to many, traveling far to do so. Sometimes he stayed various years in one place teaching only until the people had learned the messages of the Word of God well. Once he said, “The Bible is the Word of God, and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for education in righteousness, so that the man of God may be perfect, completely trained for every good work.”
The Apostle John also wrote in the Bible. He said, “If we love God, we will keep His commandments, which are not grievous.” It is true, friends, all of us who love God as our Heavenly Father comply with whatever He commands, for he is our Father.
James, another man, wrote thus: “But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.... But whoever goes on looking into the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it, not being a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in that conduct.”
In the Bible one also encounters the words of Jesus. He said, “If you continue in Me, and My Words abide in you, you may ask what you desire, and it will be done.”
