What God's Book Says

Perhaps you cannot read. I want to tell you about a very good book, named the Bible. It has the words of God for all people. Many, many books are in the world, but the Bible is the best of all. Plenty of people buy the Bible. They are hungry to know what God says about living and dying. Plenty of books only tell stories, or tell what men think. But the Bible speaks straight from God, and its Words are true. I will tell you words from God's Book.

First, God tells us that everyone is sinful before the eyes of God from the time they were born. "The heart of man is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked." It is a sickness we have called "Sin." It may be small when we are born but later it gets worse. It is like a bad sickness. It starts small, but when it is left alone it becomes worse, and later man dies. There are plenty of medicines for our bodies, but only one medicine for the sin in our hearts. God's Book says, "The blood of Jesus cleanseth us from all sin." We wash dirty clothes with soap. We cleanse a sore leg with medicine. But only the blood of Jesus will wash away the sins of our hearts.

The Bible tells us more. It says, "The wages (payment) of sin is death." We know that all people must die, both Christian people and non-Christian. The Bible tells us where people go after they die. The Christian does not go to the same place as the unbeliever. God has made ready two places. Heaven for those who have taken Jesus. It is a very good place. Hell for men who have not taken Jesus. It is a place of fire and punishment.

God's Book says more. God does not want anyone to be punished after they die. But if a man does not want Jesus, God cannot accept that man. He must send him to the place of punishment where someday Satan and his followers will stay.

Satan is God's enemy. Satan lies to man and tells him that being a Christian is hard and to wait for another day to follow Jesus. But God's way is good, and the best way for man. If a man gives you a mango (some sweet indigenous fruit) and asks you, "Is it sweet or is it sour?", you do not know until you have tried it. It is the same way with God's way. Man does not know God's good life until he takes Jesus as his Saviour and Master. He is a good Master to the Christian. He takes away sin, and gives a true and better life that is eternal. Don't let Satan hold you. Decide to leave your sin, and take Jesus. This is part of what God's Book tells you and me.
