スクリプトテキスト
*If anyone is thirsty, let him come unto Me and let him drink." Who is it who speaks like this? And who dares to say He can quench the thirst of anyone?
It is the same One who declared at a well to a woman who came to get water, "Whosoever drinks of this water will still be thirsty, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty, and the water that I will give him will be a source which will last until eternity."
Who is this man? A fool? Or a joker? Oh, no, it is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He wants to make Himself understood by all, and He speaks to all.
All men are thirsty. Thirsty for something else - for happiness, for peace, for joy, for love. This was the case of this woman who was near the well, to whom Jesus spoke. She already had five lovers, and the one with whom she lived then was just one more. Thirsty for love, for understanding, for peace, for happiness - this was her problem. And then Jesus said to her that _He_ could quench her thirst and make her drink of the Water of Life, a life which will never end, not even after death. A life of great joy and satisfaction!
Where do you look for the answer to your problem? Of your thirst for life? How can you fill this inner emptiness which so often gives you grim ideas and which makes you think about death? Who is really interested in you, in every moment of your life, to help and encourage you when everything goes wrong? Is it possible to be happy on an earth where there is always hatred and war and where injustice bursts forth every day in every realm?
Thirst is the worst of physical sufferings, and leads eventually to death. Without water physical life is not possible.
And if you continue with your inner thirst it will lead you to hopeless and spiritual death. But Jesus is here at the well to tell you, "Stop and listen. For too long you have been drawing from the well of this world, temporary success and pleasures, which only last for a moment. Stop this game, which does not lead to anything, and come to Me, Who can bring you comfort and pardon. I will fill your life with peace, love, joy, and satisfaction." Jesus still tells you, "Give Me your cup, filled with the mud of bad and impure things, and I will cleanse it and fill it, and transform it into a source where other thirsty ones may come and drink. Whoever believes in Me, rivers of living water will flow from him."
What joy to go to Jesus, so that we will not be thirsty any more, and then to turn to others and give them to drink. Jesus still calls. He calls you and wants to change your life, and then to fill it. He says, "Whosoever believes in Me will not be thirsty any more." Do you want at last to be happy, in spite of what could happen? Do you want at last to remain calm in spite of the outside tempest? Do you want at last to be satisfied even without so many things you would like to have? Do you want at last not to be alone and to have a real Friend Who will never leave you? One Who after death will welcome you into His Paradise and will make you taste of the joys of abundant, eternal life, and of the shining splendor of His glory? We only have one life, and it is short. There is only one way to live it fully. That is to live it with Jesus Christ. Put your whole trust in Him. Believe in His Word. One can count on it; it is eternal. Give Him your heart - hard, bruised, thirsty for other things - and He will come to reign in it, and quench your thirst, and share everything with you. Today, come to Him.
