If you intend to go on one of the popular cruises this Summer, look differently at the crew who serves you. They are often hardworking fathers who may be away from home for long periods of time.
At home there is no job, but poverty, which is quite a contrast to the luxury of the passengers on the cruise ships. These sailors are confronted with many seductions and homesickness.
The Seaman's Mission tries to serve these people by providing a home for them during the few hours they spend in the harbor, in Miami, Alaska and also in the Norwegian City of Bergen. In the Mission we not only give out Bibles, but also hundreds of CDs. GRN CDs can be created on the spot if there is a sailor from a foreign country who speaks a minor language which we do not have in immediate stock.
It might be a good idea to give a waiter or a chambermaid a CD in his/her own language like Tagalog for the Philippines, Indonesian or English?
You can do the same in the place where you spend your holiday. That is the purpose of this Holiday CD project.
