The Kingdom of God is similar to a man who is seeking for a pearl. (Matt. 13). Isn't our life marked with a constant search? Surely you also, are searching for something. There are different buyers, seekers, who have different methods of searching, but each one would like to find something great. In life, one can find different things, anything - you know so well how it is in this world. Everything is mixed, good and evil. There are enough members who seek, touching at truths and untruths, at thoughts and philosophy, images and stamps, in demolished houses, in garbage cans, in antiques, in new things. They seek everywhere. And you are one of them. You too are seeking something somewhere. Do you know what you are seeking? It is strange-it is possible for people to look for something without knowing what it is!
But it seems that their life is not full. Our seeker was looking for a pearl which would be just the right one to satisfy him, but all the time, he never found the exact one. But one day he found an extraordinary pearl. He knew at once that he was at the end of his search. He had found the best pearl in all the world. When he saw it, he became so excited that he lost his breath! Its light was like moonlight; it was like melted silver, and all his heart was captivated by its beauty. All the other things he owned had no more value. He went to sell all he had, although he was not poor, in order to buy this pearl. So he bought it. It was not at the bottom of the sea. The pearl had an owner, who sold it. Either the buyers did not recognize its value, or it was too expensive and they could not afford it. But not this man - he recognized its extraordinary value so he bought it, even though he had to sell everything in order to get it. One cannot argue about the price of something that is the best. It is called "sell everything", and the buyer is so happy that he does it!
Do you know what the pearl is? It is the Kingdom of God, the eternal life. One can find it only in the Lord Jesus Christ. Then it is HE who is the pearl. It is not framed by gold, but in wood, the wood of the cross. They framed Him with wood, and with thorns. They framed His head, and so they outraged Him. But it did not lose its beauty and its value for the one who recognizes its immense value. The Apostle Paul wrote in one of His epistles that he considers everything as refuse, to win Christ.
You cannot buy half the pearl. You cannot be a half Christian, as there is no half-eternity. If you want to gain the highest value of life, you have to win it completely. The way is open. Come to Jesus and pray to Him. Tell Him that you would like to win Him. Ask Him to give you strength, to give yourself completely to Him and to follow Him. If you ask Him to forgive your sins, He will do it, and His Holy Spirit will come to live within you. He will make Jesus real to you, so that He will be like the pearl to you. Take this step, and try. You will recognize the value of the life with Jesus, and you will stop looking for something else.
