Sin Curse

Title ideas:People began to do wrong [disobey God or act badly] so God punished them and they died.The beginning for death/dying.

God put the man and woman in a huge garden [a special place] where everything was good and beautiful.

At first the man and woman were at peace in the beautiful garden [special place] that God had made for them. And they did exactly what God told them to do.

God often came to walk [stay] with them and they talked with God who was their close friend.

They had satisfying work to do [to cultivate and tend the beautiful garden]. They wanted always to obey what God told them to do.

God had told the man [and woman] that they [he] could eat the fruit from all the trees in that place—except one [unique special] tree! [That tree causes people to know what is good and what is evil/bad.] He told them, “You must not eat the fruit from [only] this tree! If you eat that fruit, you will certainly die!”

But there was an enemy [person/being] who came there. He disguised himself as [looked like] a snake and was very deceptive. [It could talk the language like the two people.]

One day, the snake [enemy] was waiting for the woman. When she was near, [he greeted her respectfully/properly and] they talked. The snake asked the woman, "Did God really say that you must not eat from any of the trees in the special place [he created for you]?"

The woman answered, "We may eat the fruit of any tree in the special place except from the tree in the middle of the garden. God told us not to eat from it or even touch it. If we do, we will die."

But the snake [enemy] lied saying, "You won't die. God said those words because he knows that when you eat that fruit, then you will be wise and you will know about good things and bad things, just as God knows."

The woman thought [said] to herself, “Hmmm, That fruit appears good [beautiful/lovely] for us! It will likely taste delicious [good]! Yes, it would be good for us to eat it and to become wise.”

So she took [picked] some [pieces of the] fruit and she ate it. Then she gave some to the man [her husband] [who was present with her] and he also ate it.

After they ate the fruit, something changed in them. They knew they had disobeyed [rebelled] and they saw themselves as naked [all bare skin]. They felt shame and they supposed that God would see that they were naked [all bare skin]. So they gathered large leaves and sewed [wove/plaited] them to make clothes for themselves [coverings; to cover themselves with].

In the afternoon [When the sun was more than half way down], the man and woman heard God walking in the garden. So they hid among the trees. God called to the man, “Why are you trying to hide from me?”The man replied, “I heard you your footsteps [you walking] and I was naked so I was afraid and so I hid myself.”

God asked [the man and woman], “How did you realize [know] you were naked? You must have eaten fruit from the tree which I told you not to eat.” Then the man said, “This woman you gave me gave me some fruit from that tree, so I ate it. Then the woman blamed the snake saying, “I ate that fruit because the snake deceived me!”

God said to the snake [enemy], "You! Because you did this, I will punish you! I curse you!”

God continued speaking to his enemy Satan, "From now on you and all other snakes must [are obligated to] crawl on your belly in the dust. And your kind of animal will always be the enemies of people forever. One of the woman’s offspring [descendants] will crush your head even though you will wound [hit/bruise/bite] the heel of him [the woman’s offspring]."

Next God spoke to the woman. He said, "You will have great pain every time that you give birth to a child. You will want to boss [control] your husband, but I have made him in charge over [responsible for] you!"

Then God said to the man, “You ate the fruit that I commanded you (plural/all) that you should not eat! From now on, you must sweat [work very hard] until the day you die in order to help the ground produce enough food for you to eat. Thorns and thistles will grow from the ground! I made you (by making mud) from the dust of the ground and when you die [when your body dies] you will become dust again."

Then God [killed animals and] made clothes from [those] animal skins for those two people to cover their nakedness and shame. Then He made them to go out from [to leave] the beautiful garden.

God told angels to guard all the paths to the beautiful garden so that no people could arrive and eat from another tree that might cause them to live forever if they ate the fruit from it. All this trouble happened because they [the people] did not obey God.

God named the man Adam, meaning “dust [dirt/ground]” [in his language].

Adam named the woman [his wife] ‘Eve’ meaning “to give life” in their language.

Later, Adam and Eve birthed two sons. They named them Cain and Abel.

Those two sons grew. They became mature. Cain was a farmer. [He helped plants to grow (cultivated fields)]. Abel tended and herded [took care of] sheep and goats.

One day, each of the two young men brought gifts to God.

Cain brought to God some [few/small samples from the] food he had cultivated / grown.

(But) Abel [he] chose some firstborn animals [sheep or goats] from [among] those he was keeping [protecting/caring for/looking after]. He killed them and brought to God the fatty/most favored/best meat pieces.

The two men burned their offerings [gifts]. God was pleased [glad] with Abel’s trust/confidence [in God] and with his offering. But God was not pleased [not happy] with Cain nor with his offering.

[Then] Cain became very [more] angry.

Then God said to Cain, “You should not be angry with me nor with your brother! When your attitude [desires or thinking] is good [proper or right], you will certainly please me and I will accept you.

“If you do not stop your anger, watch out! [there is danger!] that you will do a wrong action to others. You should/must control [boss] your wrong thoughts and wrong actions and do what is right!”

But Cain rejected the warning [words / advice] from God.

Then one day, when Cain was with Abel [in the fields] and no others were there, he killed his brother.

Later, God spoke with Cain. He said, “Where is your brother?”

Cain did not want to tell God that he had killed Abel. So he replied, “I do not know! I am not responsible to know where he is located!”

Then God rebuked Cain. He said, “[You!] I see your brother’s blood on the ground. You killed your brother (violently)!

“Because of that, the plants you put in the ground will no longer grow [well]! Instead, you will go from place to place as you try to find food!”

Then Cain left God’s presence. He went to another place where he married a wife who birthed children.

The descendants [offspring] from Cain continued to live very badly [wrongly].

After Cain killed Abel, Adam and his wife [Eve] continued to live together, and she birthed another son whom she named Seth. She was happy God gave her another son.

Seth grew up, married a wife and birthed children. Some descendants from Seth worshipped God by obeying him.

In those days the descendants from Adam and Eve lived very many years [to 700 or 900 years], but they all died [just as God said they would.]
