Are all heart languages audible? It is GRN’s mission to record and distribute the story of Jesus in language that speaks to the heart so all people can hear and understand the truth of the Gospel. For 85 years we have done that through audio recordings.
However, for the deaf communities around the world, heart language is sign language and audio recordings cannot reach deaf communities.
When GRN Pakistan staff Salas and Sonia’s daughter went deaf at 1 year old, they were left heartbroken wondering what the future held for their daughter. Several years later Salas first learned about sign language at an oral Bible translation training. This created a new hope for the future of his daughter as he sought to find what Christian work was happening among the 10 million deaf in Pakistan. He was shocked to not find any Christian work and even discovered some deaf from Christian families were converting to the majority religion since they had no Christian community.
That discovery ignited a passion in Salas to reach the deaf of Pakistan as well as provide a Christian community for his daughter to grow in her faith! Since 2021, GRN has translated the Good News script into sign language, started deaf fellowships and has now planted 12 deaf churches throughout Pakistan. Their last discipleship training had 178 deaf in attendance, coming from all over the country. They have 14 deaf leaders and another 7 in training. Ministries from other countries are taking notice and asking the deaf leaders of the Pakistan church to come to their countries to train them how to reach the deaf in their country with the hope of life in Jesus.
Our God is amazing! He takes what we perceive as tragedies and can turn them around to blessings beyond our imagination.
Praise the Lord with us for His amazing work in Pakistan and pray for strength, wisdom, and endurance as the young deaf church of Pakistan grows to reach the millions of other deaf in the country who have no knowledge of Jesus and the hope of salvation we have in Him.
