Skript Text
It was a bright starry night in the hill country. Some poor shepherds had gathered their flocks together and were watching them in the fields. Suddenly the sky above them was filled with a great brightness! The frightened shepherds cried out in alarm. (Cries of alarm) Out of the midst of heavenly light the Angel of the Lord spoke to them. "Do not be afraid. I have good news for you. I have joyful news for all people. Unto you is born this very day in the city of David, the Saviour which is Christ the Lord. This is how you shall know it is He. You shall find the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger."
Then there appeared with the Angel a great crowd of angels, all rejoicing and praising God. (S.E. sg. Hallelujah) After that the angels went back into heaven. The shepherds came and found the baby just as they had been told. (Pause 6 sec.) They took no thought of His bed of hay, nor of the animals tied in their stalls, nor of other people there. "We have seen Him!" they said to everyone. "We have seen the Saviour, which is Christ the Lord!"
God had sent His own beloved Son down from heaven to be the Saviour of the world. He was the maker of heaven and earth. He has lived always, and He will live always. He is God Who cannot die, now becoming like one of us so that He could die for every man. Jesus Christ the Lord was that little baby lying in the hay.
Why did Jesus come down from heaven and become a man? It was because He loves us. He came to lay down His life for every one of us. He died on the cross for our sins. He rose again from the dead to give us eternal life. God knows our sinful hearts. We cannot save ourselves. This then was the great good news! "For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved".
Let us also come to Jesus, the Saviour of our souls. How great is His love! How great is His power! He is the One Who can make our hearts clean. He can give us power to follow Him. He came to lead us in the good way. Let us trust in Him. He only can help us day by day. Only Jesus Christ can bring light and joy to our hearts and to our homes. He will do it for you if you ask Him.
