Four Sabers were sent for testing to a mission organisation working in Southern Africa. They were eagerly anticipating the production of the Saber as they have great need for it in their work. The work carried out by the Mission is largely radio broadcasting, but further discipleship was carried out for many years using GRN's Messenger cassette players.

The Messenger players carrying cassettes with messages of hope, peace and reconciliation through Christ, were distributed freely throughout refugee camps in Tanzania and Congo after the Rwanda Genocide. Thousands of people had fled into the camps and desperately needed to hear the healing message of salvation. Through the gospel messages on the cassette players, more than 12,000 people accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. More than 4000 of these converts were water baptised in the camps.

As the years have passed and the cassette players wore out, the ministry slowed down considerably. Recognising the need to revitalise the precious work, the Saber digital players were eagerly accepted and trials carried out.

Upon receipt of the Saber players in Southern Africa, they were distributed to Tanzania, Burundi and DR Congo. The missionary took one to a Maasai marketplace in Tanzania (see photos). The Saber proved very popular with the villagers, and they found them easy to use after a short demonstration. The people listened enthusiastically to the messages.

One Maasai couple had separated and were living apart for a number of years. Both of them heard the gospel message on the Saber at different times and were deeply impacted by it. They decided to meet, asked one another for forgiveness, and moved back together again. They then accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour; lives truly transformed!

We look forward to hearing more about transformed lives as Sabers are used on a larger scale, telling the story of Jesus Christ in every language.
