"We often forget that there are people who have never heard the good news about Jesus, and then when they do hear it, the Holy Spirit convicts them that it is good news indeed!"
"How long have you been keeping this Good News from us?" Seven old folks in a Muslim village of West Africa asked this question. Gospel Recordings (GR) workers were visiting villages and playing cassette tapes for the people. The GR worker responded, "I told them the good news happenings took place before any of us were born. I also told them that this was the right time for them to hear." We often forget that there are people who have never heard the good news about Jesus, and then when they do hear it, the Holy Spirit convicts them that it is good news indeed!
GR workers often encounter harassment, persecution and restraint as they distribute and play tapes. In one village the young men who had heard the tapes tried to stop the workers. In the middle of the argument the GR workers went to the town chief who had not yet listened to the tapes. They played the tapes again for a public hearing, and 13 people, including the chief, chose to follow Christ! The workers were then freed and allowed to continue visiting homes. Four hundred and sixty two people listened to the Good News of Christ.
Thank the Lord for new birth! Pray for the Holy Spirit to lead GR workers to villages where hearts have been prepared to accept the Good News. Pray for effective follow-up training and discipling for new believers. -JS
