Delfin Ovalle reports on Adventura Misionera 2010 in Peru, where a team distributed GRN materials to the towns of Pomabamba, Piscobamba, Parobamba, Quinuabamba, Vinac and Pisco in the Sierra of Ancash. The missionary team comprised of Elda Arguello [Argentina], Veronica Martínez [Mexico], Glory [Peru], Luis Rebolledo, Simon Beech and Delfin Ovalle [Australia].

After a 20 hour flight we arrived in Peru at 1:00 am in the morning and the suitcases were checked at the airport. We had to pay $50 US. tax for the recording equipment that we carried. A comparatively small amount for the value of the equipment.

On Monday we were visited by brothers Angel Flores, Angel Suarez, Tulio and Pastor Virginia. Pray for them so that they can continue the missionary work in Peru and that many more may join them. They demonstrated their love toward us in their preparation of traditional Peruvian specialties such as cebiche, the potatoes of the huancaína and other delicious dishes we couldn't wait to taste. Following the feast we prayed together for the work of Aventura Misionera. In the afternoon of the same day Pastor Roldan Del Aguila came with his family. Please pray for them and their plans. The next day starting very early in the morning we travelled by bus for 9 hours to Huaraz where we rested and continued the next day on our trip for another 8 hours until we reached our first destination at Pomabamba.

In Pomabamba, Pastor Aquiles Garra was awaiting us along with his family. He arranged for the women to be lodged in the Pastor's house and the men went to an empty house. Our bed was on the ground. The first two nights we did not sleep a lot but later we found it more comfortable and were able to sleep soundly. The missionary team arrived at a crucial time in which the Pastor and the church needed some spiritual support. We shared messages of encouragement with the Pastor and members of the church who worked with us in the distribution of CDs and evangelism.

The distribution was done in the nearby communities of Pomabamba in both the morning and afternoon. We walked a lot, up and down the hills, delivering the CDs and sharing the message of Jesus as we travelled. Many people received the Lord Jesus as the saviour and Lord of their lives and we give Him the honour and the glory for preparing the way for us. We reached people of many different communities such as Angascancha, Azuay, Buena Vista, Chacabamba, Chuyas, Collota, Conopa, Cotocancha, Cuquitaca, Cusca, Guesha, Huampacruz, Huancabamba, Huayllan, Huripata, Jancapampa, Molino Pampa, Parada, Parush Pampa, Pauchos, Potaca, Pumachuco, Qatucancha, San Juan de Chullin, Socsi, Tinyas, Vinauya, Yancollpa, and Yiusha.

We also ministered with church members, pastors and their families as they experienced renewal in their ministry and encouraged them to continue to trust in God's promises:

Hab. 3:17 - 18 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

In Picobamba we visited Pastor Hermilio and Leonides Moreno to whom we gave material to distribute. A market there afforded the opportunity to reach many communities that otherwise we would not be able to reach; as people come to the town to do their buying and selling.

Later in the week we went to Parobamba arriving at the house of Pastor Fidel Caldas. He is 71 years of age and very active. He accompanied us in the distribution in the different communities going up and down the hill, walking all day at an attitude of 3,200 above sea level.

We give thanks to God for his care, protection of our team throughout this distribution trip. We did not have health problems, even the older members of the team were able to do all the work without getting tired. As God's word says even youth grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40: 30-31

The second day in Parobamba we went to distribute CDs with the message of Jesus and on the road we found a small shop and we gave the owner the material. He declared to be a brother in Christ and said he would share the material and play the CDs via the loudspeakers. We continued our road trip, after 2 hours of walking we could hear the message being played through the loudspeakers. All the people in that area of the mountains were able to hear the message and be reached this way.

We distributed material to 750 families. Please pray for the Pastors and leaders so that they can continue the work of discipleship of those people that were reached for the Lord. God does his work through the Pastors who are in very isolated and remote areas which are far away from the large cities. They often feel alone and forgotten. But they are not alone, because Jesus through the Holy Spirit renews them, He fortifies, and He gives them his grace and love every moment

He gave us the privilege to see the wonders of his creation, the landscape and the majestic mountains. We shared a devotional time with the team everyday, morning and night. In preparation to serve him and share the good news as commanded by the great commission to the uttermost parts of the earth. We had unforgettable experiences that will always be in our hearts and a passion to continue to serve him in this ministry.

Thank you so much for your support and prayers which has enabled the work of Aventura Misionera to continue. And we look forward to you joining us next year.
