Dalene Joubert writes from South Africa:
At a big seminar with local pastors, we had on display many Christian materials. We asked the pastor for their opinion on what would be most helpful to their churches and their evangelism efforts. We really hoped they would spend some time studying the materials and make a considered group decision.
Instead they looked at the books without even touching them, and then went straight to the big colorful GNM illustration books with tapes and texts. In two minutes they had all decided this was what they needed.
We translated and distributed the Good News cassettes and books as a test to see whether the format and technology would be well received and have any impact. After the materials had been in the field for about six months, we all started making inquiries. One man told us: “The churches are now full. People we never expected to do so, are accepting Christ. When those people were asked why they finally decided to follow God, they told us that all the churches were now teaching the same.”
We find that in this programme the life, teachings, death and resurrection of Christ fit nicely into the whole story of God's plan of salvation. It provides the basic facts of Christian salvation and Christian living, it presents the hope of heaven, and it challenges people to share the good news with their family and friends.
