I was thrilled to hear this answer to prayer!
Report from Justin, North Cameroon
Last July I had great joy making recording in KARANG.
Three years ago I was working in Sorembeo with the translators from SIL. Sorembeo is 360 km from Garua But we were not been able to do recording at that time. Why would we want to do this particular recording? Because it is an unreached language group.
My contact was Pastor Dasro, I spoke of my difficulty in arranging the recording of our Good News KARANG script.
He said the SIL recording had priority and that Good News was after that.
The progress of the recording stalled.
Then one Sunday last July, when I was in Tchollire a motorbike rolled up. One of them was the leader of the SIL translation team. He offered to be our language helper. We worked for two days. During this time we also organised a meeting for local pastors to promote Audio Vie materials and to distribute cassettes and CDs in DII, Lakka, Massa, Guiziga, Moundang, Français and Fulfulde. The SIL translators benefitted from seeing us in action.
I was encouraged that the priest in Tchollire came. He wanted to use the cassettes in his community. I finished the editing of KARANG one night, accompanied by the regional bishop who told me he was reduced to tears of joy for the grace God had given him enabling him to assist in this project. The people of Karang had been waiting for a translation of the Bible for 40 years.
This recording is essential for sharing the Good News with the Karang people who can be found in Chad, Cameroon and other countries.
The name of the Lord is known by his people!
