The Speech Variety Network research site is being developed to enable information about all the varieties of speech throughout the world to be collected, shared and checked.
Through this site you can search for speech varieties either by name or by country or by a variety of language or dialect codes.
Codes include Current ISO codes, Ethnologue 16 codes, Speech Variety codes and ROD codes). Former ROPAL codes have been replaced.
Speech Variety is a collective name. In this site it can represent one of the following:
Speech Varieties that have been investigated and qualify as Dialects are entered into the Registry Of Dialects (ROD). This registry is part of the Harvest Information System, which also includes registries of peoples (ROP) and languages (ROL). The Registry Of Dialects (ROD) can be downloaded here.
