Welcome to the Speech Variety Network research site

The Speech Variety Network research site is being developed to enable information about all the varieties of speech throughout the world to be collected, shared and checked.

Through this site you can search for speech varieties either by name or by country.

Speech Variety is a collective name. In this site it can represent one of the following:

1. A Language
2. A Dialect
3. An undetermined variety of speech

The information gathered here feeds into the Registry Of Dialects (ROD). This registry is part of the Harvest Information System, which also includes registries of peoples (ROP) and languages (ROL). The Registry Of Dialects (ROD) can be downloaded here.
