GRN: How did you hear about GRN?
Geneva: I first learned of GRN shortly after the USA offices were built in Temecula, CA. Several from the church I attend were invited for a tour. I took the Perspectives course at the GRNUSA facility in early 2015 and became a volunteer once a week in the fall of 2016.
GRN: What was it about GRN that made you apply?
Geneva: When I retired from public service the summer of 2015, I knew a new chapter of opportunity would open for me to serve God and others with the skill set He had given me.
GRN: What are your duties as Personnel Director?
Geneva: I'm responsible for overseeing personnel and recruiting at the USA office. There are many details involved in processing new missionaries and staff as well as insurance and legal compliance. Mostly, I hope to serve our staff and volunteers in such a way that they feel cared for and supported in the work they do.
GRN: How will this department help GRN to achieve its goals?
Geneva: Personnel and recruiting are essential to the future of the organization as we seek to find and bring in more support staff here locally and process new missionaries who want to be field recordists. I'm particularly excited about how God is bringing the field to us through refugees and immigrants. The "field" has never been closer.
GRN: What is your previous management experience?
Geneva: As a classified administrator for a local public school district for sixteen years, I led the Safety and Risk Department which required interaction with all divisions, departments, and school sites of the District. During that time I also completed a Masters of Arts in Organizational Management degree with an emphasis in Human Resources. My career path was God's design-not one I expected when I married a seminary student headed to pastoral ministry in 1977. We had been married almost 36 years when he died in 2013.
GRN: What is your passion?
Geneva: To follow Jesus... I am also very fond of my two children, their spouses, and four grandchildren and pray that the generations that follow me will follow Jesus too.
GRN: What do you like most about working at GRN?
Geneva: I like the graciousness of the people.
GRN: Do you have a prayer request?
Geneva: "Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful, may the fire of our devotion light their way, may the footsteps that we leave lead them to believe . . ."(Steve Green)
