Interview with Doug Fletcher

GRN: What is your Christian experience?

Doug: When my wife Kathy (Kat) and I met, neither of us had a church. Her boss invited us to Community Church of the Valley, and that day we both believed that the pastor was talking directly to us. We recognized our need for Christ, so we took church-membership classes and pre-marital counseling. We were baptized in the morning and married in the evening. Now through prayer, discipleship and a study of the Word, God has empowered me to trust in Him while working to spread God's Word to the least, the last, and the lost.

GRN: How did you hear about GRN?

Doug: I met a brother at church who was very excited about his calling to work with Global Recordings Network (GRN). I knew this was a place where I could serve the Lord in missions.

GRN: What are your responsibilities at GRN?

Doug: I'm the Systems Administrator. I keep up with about 50 computers, a 130-terabyte networking system, telephone and printing systems all working at peak performance 24/7.

GRN: How big is 130 terabytes?

Doug: That's 130 with nine zeros at the end-big enough to handle several websites, audio and video recordings in thousands of languages, a huge database, and emails from around the world.

GRN: What excites you about your work?

Doug: It's amazing what God has done, and is doing through this mission. This is a tremendous tool for sharing the gospel with those who cannot or do not read.

GRN: How does your work further the aims of GRN?

Doug: I help to ensure that people anywhere in the world, at any time, can listen to a message in their own language or dialect that shows how God loves them and Jesus died for them.

GRN: How can we pray for you?

Doug: I need to build a prayer and support team. Missionary work is spiritual warfare and I need the prayer covering of God's people to enable me to live a victorious Christian life and be faithful and steadfast in service. I plan to send out a short bi-monthly e-memo to those who will join me as one of my prayer partners.

GRN: Do you have a favorite Bible verse?

Doug: I still have a way to go, but I am finding that, "God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful" 1 Thessalonians 5:25-New Living Translation.
