GRN: How did you hear about GRN?
John: I first found Gospel Recordings materials in Germany in 1984 while working in a refugee camp among people who had no Scripture in their own languages. GRN was the only mission that had anything in their languages.
GRN: How did God lead you to the USA, Rosa?
Rosa: I'm originally from Peru. I came to the Lord as a young adult after being challenged by a film on the life of Christ. I began reading my Bible and invited others at the university to join me. I learned to play the guitar to add music to the prayer and Bible study. When I left the University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, there was a Bible study in each of five faculties. As an Architect I took a course in Georgia called Appropriate Technology.
GRN: How did you meet John?
Rosa: We met in Israel when I was staying with my sister. We were married in Jerusalem in 1994.
GRN: What attracted you to the mission, John? John. I've always had a love for languages. I loved the Childcraft Encyclopedia Vol. 2 on Folk Music. It was fascinating to see the different languages. I was born into a multicultural family, and studied Spanish and then German in High School. After school living in Germany gave a great opportunity to learn that language better, but also to get to know people from other countries and those in the refugee camp that did not know the Lord. Finding resources for them from this mission was such an answer to prayer.
GRN: What areas of the work have you served in, John?
John: When I lived in Portland, as well as on our first trip to Brazil to celebrate Rosa's parents Golden Wedding Anniversary, we served as GR representatives. We arranged and spoke at meetings to share the vision of GRN. In Los Angeles I did language research and correspondence. Now in Temecula I continue the language research and process orders for recordings and materials.
GRN: Rosa, what is your contribution to the work
Rosa: I love one-on-one evangelism and to exercise my gift of hospitality. I believe it's a vital part of the overall aim of GRN to reach the least, the last and the lost.
GRN: Do the two of you have a specific scripture that motivates you?
Rosa: My favorite is Deuteronomy 6:5 "And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength." (New Living Translation)
John: My life verse is 2 Timothy 2:15 because it exemplifies my desire to serve and commitment to God's Word: "Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth" (NLT)
GRN: Do you have a special prayer request?
John: Pray that the Lord will reach the 20 least reached languages in the world. These languages have no Scripture, no full time missionary and not one known believer. Please contact us for details - our email addresses are below.
