There is a growing church among the AIGON people of West New Britain Province in PNG but up until now there have been no Christian resources available to them in their own language. This has now changed.

I boarded the ship in Lae at 6pm Friday 5th September, heading for Kimbe, West New Britain. The seas were rough and I am no sailor. Most of the night I was violently ill. By the time we arrived in Kimbe the next day I was very weak and could hardly walk or even talk. I was so thankful to be met by John Kal from the South Sea Evangelical Church who took me to his house where I could rest.

The next day we met up with Samson, a CLTC graduate who had helped me record two programmes in the Aigon language last year. At that time we had recorded two books of the Look, Listen and Live series, telling the stories of Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Ruth, Samuel, David and Elijah.

Samson and two friends, Jonathan and Jona, were waiting for me and together we walked for 7 hours to the village of Asirim. It was very hot and by the time we arrived I was exhausted. Samson still had some energy so while I rested, he played the cassettes of the recordings we had made last year. Two men showed the picture books that go with the recordings.

The people of the village were excited to hear the recordings in their own language. They had never heard anything like it in their lives. Over the next few days we took the hand wind cassette player, the cassettes and the picture books to the surrounding villages so they too could hear the stories of the Bible. They were challenged and their lives were changed.

While we were there we also recorded the Good News programme which gives an overview of the Bible and then explains to people how to get right with God and to live as a follower of Jesus.

After that Samson and I left the people and walked back to Kimbe. My head was aching and I thought I was coming down with malaria so I took some medication.

Thankfully I was able to fly back to Lae and then get a bus back to Christian Leaders Training College at Mt Hagen. Now I am editing the AIGON "Good News" so that it can be sent back to the people.

Please pray that many will hear the truth of God's Word through these recordings, that they will come to faith in Christ and be built up in the knowledge of God's Word and God's ways.
