Jon and Clair Rulison are staff members of Sounds Of Language Foundation in Thailand. They direct the work in Thailand coordinating language research, distribution, recording, and contact with other missions and leaders. Prior to locating there, Jon recorded in at least 14 other countries and together they have served in Africa, Europe, Central Asia, and Nepal.

Jon was born in Thailand to missionary parents and responded to an invitation to accept Christ at an early age. During his teens he struggled with obedience and sin, and it wasn't until he was studying at the Evangelical Institute of Greenville, South Carolina that he fully surrendered to Christ as Lord and Savior. During his time at the Institute he learned many lessons including how obedience to the Word brings victory.

Clair was raised in a military home, moving often. Though her parents took her, her sister and her two brothers to church fairly regularly, they did not fully understand salvation until she was 12. At that time her father was serving as an artillery officer in Vietnam. She says, "I first came to know that Jesus Christ lived, died and rose again so that I could be set free from the penalty for my sins and begin to have real life as part of God's own family. My mom and dad were touched by the goodness God showed to me, and eventually submitted their lives to Him." Since that time others in her family have also come to know the Lord.

Jon joined Gospel Recordings in 1980 when he and his brother, Dan, were asked to go to Nepal and begin the work there. Though Jon and Clair both spent time in Nepal during the 1980s and had common friends and even attended the same wedding in Kathmandu, they never met each other until much later, in Pasadena, California in 1991 - God's perfect timing. They married in 1992 and have two children, daughter Brook born November 29, 1994, and son Forest, born October 24, 1997.

Jon and Clair are fulfilling a vital function with Gospel Recordings as they minister in Thailand. Their hearts' desire is to get the Good News of Jesus Christ to people in the languages they speak, so that many will come to Christ and follow Him. They develop strategies for making audio recordings, develop culturally relevant scripts and partner with other missions and individuals with the goal of seeing God's kingdom expand in Southeast Asia. Jon and Clair have been equally important in the training of new recordists. In March 2007 the facility in Chiang Mai became a full GRN center. Many are benefiting from their efforts and Gospel Recordings is blessed to have them leading the team in Thailand.

The Scripture verse that is the foundation for their service and lives is 2Corinthians 5:9a: "So we make it our goal to please Him." (NIV)

Their prayer requests are that as a family they would reflect the character qualities of Jesus and that their team of families in Thailand would, in cooperation with other missionaries and national workers, be able to reach many language groups with the Good News of Jesus Christ. You, too, can join with Jon and Clair Rulison as part of their circle of ministry partners. Please pray about how God would have you be involved in their ministry.
