Learning about God through pictures and audio

Luis and Roz Santos are missionaries with WEC in Cambodia. Here's an extract from their recent newsletter.

The family that we mentioned in our last newsletter still needs your prayers. Luis has started teaching them the Bible using the materials of Global Recordings Network and various other materials.

In this part of the world it is very important to begin with Genesis. You cannot go straight to Jesus since they haven't got any Old Testament understandings whatsoever to help them make sense of Him. Since Buddhism is full of stories that they themselves do not know the origins of or if they actually happened, we present the Bible as the only authority and the only source of all the stories that we teach them. It is slow going but important to make sure that they really understand the message of the Bible from the beginning.

What makes it more challenging is that they are all illiterate, but it is a delight to see them when the lesson starts and they look at the pictures with wide open eyes. We make a pause for them to interact with each story. We have dinner following the lesson and we usually have snails, frogs or rat and always rice, of course.
