After a hiatus of over a decade, we are excited to be recording for indigenous communities again. We have recorded scripture for a few Bible translation teams and are actively working on new scripts suitable for rural communities. New studio staff and the work of Dennis and Glenys Tranter have made this possible.
Papua New Guinea remains a challenge. We continue to pray and work towards serving the 870 different language groups of PNG with the story of Jesus in their own languages. We are hoping to make a start again in early 2018.
Training recordists is an important and costly process, but it is vital if we are to produce good quality messages for the people we serve. This year we have invested heavily in preparing good recordist training materials, producing online training modules and developing our future trainers.
Ministry in India has ground to a halt. Over 1,000 languages and dialects are spoken there so the potential for GRN ministry is huge. We are looking for partners and opportunities to work on a small scale as we seek to re-establish ministry in India.
GRN centres around the world have struggled to grow because of a lack of finances. As churches grow throughout Latin America, Africa and Asia the time is coming for these churches to take a greater responsibility in financing the work of missions. Pray for our centres as they help their churches realise the joy and blessing that will be theirs as they increasingly support missions around the world.
Frank Caguin and I spent a week with our Philippines team helping them understand what is involved in developing a team of prayer and financial supporters. We enjoyed the week and it was encouraging to see them practise the skills we taught. Please ask our Lord to bless their work with the prayer and financial support it needs.
We are fast running out of Sabers in stock and the new model is not yet ready. Please pray for the team as they develop our new Saber (mp3 player), pray too for the finances needed so we can supply the players at a price people can afford.
GRN Australia has been praying for you. We have been praying for revival in the Australian Church in general and praying specifically for the churches we know. We are very much aware that we exist to serve the Church as she seeks to make disciples of all nations. We want to work with her. We want to equip her with the story of Jesus in the languages of the people she is reaching with the Gospel.
