Good News - Out Loud!

First prototype of the new solid state player

For over 60 years Global Recordings Network has produced audio gospel messages in the heart languages of the people of our world. Nearly 6000 languages and dialects have been recorded so far, with particular priority given to oral societies and minority language groups.

But people can't hear these messages unless they have the means to play them.

Many years ago, GRN developed and produced hand wind record players. Later, as technology changed, we developed hand wind cassette players. Now, we are about to release a hand wind MP3 digital audio player, with built in generator, amplifier and speaker.

Why another playback device?

This player has several key features, which together set it apart from other digital players available today.

Demonstrating the new player to an Indonesian group

1. High volume output

Personal listening devices are inappropriate for oral societies. Families and even larger groups need to listen and interact with the message together. For teaching in a church, or playing in the market, high volume output enables more people to hear the words of life. The 3" speaker and built in amplifier, enables the new player to be heard by scores of people at once.

2. High quality audio

Good communication must be culturally appropriate if it is to be heard and understood. Music is a vital part of communication in many cultures. It brings the message to life. The player is designed to reproduce music and speech to a high standard.

3. Inexhaustible power supply

The hand wind generator means you never run out of power. For every 5 minutes of winding, you can play for perhaps 20 minutes. The player can also be charged using solar panels or 'mains' supply, but... come rain, hail, shine, forgetfulness or power cuts, it can still be used! The player will run for several hours on a full charge.

4. Flexibility

You can download GRN audio programs from the Internet and load them to the machine, and you can load your own recordings. It's simple. The machine can be used to teach the Bible, play music, tell stories, or teach about health, hygiene, AIDS or whatever is needed.
