We don't usually say much about the use of our recordings in Nepal and Bhutan, as neither of them is friendly to the Gospel. But we do undertake quite a significant amount of distribution, often with encouraging results. The following report was written by someone who was distributing a newly-recorded language near the border of one of these countries.
Last week we visited a simple, traditional animist people who have adopted Hinduism into their religious mix. Their village felt like a campground with elevated wood and bamboo bungalows among groves of betel nut palm. The people listened to the recording with interest since the message was in their own heart language. "The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation!" We prayed with a dozen adults who chose to receive Christ. It was wonderful to see whole families coming to Christ.
At the home of a government official, the whole family gathered in the main room of the house to hear the Gospel cassette. Without hesitation they accepted the invitation to receive salvation. The wife said she was angry at the witchdoctor and was fed up with offering cows and hens for the healing of her children's illnesses. Before I could finish talking, the father and mother began praying. It was moving to see their hearts softened and the father leading his family in confession of sin. I looked and the small daughter was praying and wiping away tears. I was so deeply touched.
