Helen grew up attending Sunday School and Fellowship but abandoned church involvement in her mid teens. As she approached her 22nd birthday, God arranged some 'co-incidences', and during this exciting time Helen heard the gospel and gave her life to Jesus. Upon conversion, Helen attended a church were the teaching provided an excellent base for spiritual growth and an attitude of taking God seriously.
In her mid 20s Helen did youth work in three different refuges, two in Kings Cross. She also undertook Youth With A Mission's Discipleship Training Course. Helen's interest turned from welfare services to computing and she undertook studies to gain employment within the computer support, network and email administration fields.
In recent years Helen yearned to do something more actively mission-focused - to make a difference in the world, to evangelise, to minister to others - but was unsure of what to do. God led Helen to Global Recordings Network where she volunteered for a few months before joining up as a full time worker. She also presents a music show on local community radio each Monday morning.
Helen's role in GRN is Data Analyst. She spends long hours documenting and correcting detailed information about thousands of GRN recordings, which enables those recordings to be turned into video. The duties suit Helen's love of sorting, investigating, creating order out of chaos and solving problems. She describes it as being employed to do puzzles and untangle balls of string all day.
Helen is also involved in improving systems to help recordists, researchers and other workers in GRN. She loves the work, the environment, the flexible workplace of GRN and working with people who take God seriously.
