Too Old? Too Busy?

"Wokabaut provided invaluable experience and insight about missionary work, my own Christian walk and life in general."

Many of our Rejoice readers and pray-ers may be older, but this may not mean that they can't be actively involved in outreach with the Gospel message to those who have never heard it in their own language.

Once again this year (Nov 29 - Dec 22), GRN Australia's Alex and Sybil Shaw will be taking a team on a "Wokabaut" to Papua New Guinea to distribute Gospel cassettes and share the message of salvation. They will join staff from our PNG office and members of local churches. This year they plan to focus on the DUNA-speaking area of the Southern Highlands. Participants will experience life in local villages and have opportunity to share their personal testimony of Christ.

An older participant commented, "Wokabaut has helped me be more versatile, to cope better with the unexpected; to do without all but the very basic needs or even less; to cope with one thing at a time as it comes and to practice relying on God when things are out of my control."

So how can you be involved?

Firstly, don't immediately say, "This is not for me!" Even if you are older, or very busy, you may have a desire to be involved with evangelistic outreach in another culture. If you have good health and the financial means, (the total cost is about A$3,000 - your church may even be willing to contribute as part of their outreach), why not ask God if He would have you join the WOKABAUT team?

Another way you can be involved is to tell your younger family or friends about this opportunity. It may change their lives. So consider presenting this challenge to someone you know! Applications need to be in by the end of September.

And then we need your PRAYER backing -

  1. Pray for God to call the ones of his choice to join the team.
  2. Pray for Alex and Sybil (in Sydney), Nickson, Kenny and Joan (in PNG) as they process applications and plan the trip.
  3. Pray for the orientation weekend planned for 21-23 November.
  4. Pray for safety - physically, and especially spiritually. Wokabaut is not just a 'Christian Tour' - but a real 'Missions Exposure Experience' which will involve spiritual warfare.
  5. Pray for opportunities to clearly present the Gospel message through the cassettes and Bible pictures among the DUNA people, and for lasting 'fruit' as a result. PRAY for these people to be released from the bondage of Satan and come to a living faith in our living Lord Jesus.
