In Training for Project India

As the work of GRN in India and Nepal is set to expand, re-equipping and training of recordists there is vital. In October 2007, 6 men were given further training in Kolkata and were supplied with state-of-the-art recording and editing equipment. Four of the men serve in India and two in Nepal.

Mostly from Hindu backgrounds, they are keenly aware of the deep spiritual needs in their countries. Some of them are totally cut off from their families because they have turned to Christ. They have paid a high price for following the Lord Jesus Christ - but, there is no turning back. They are keen to share the hope they have and see others come into the kingdom.

One of the men is from the very North East of India, near the border with Myanmar. He is naturally well-suited for the ministry there as he knows the local trade language and understands the unique social and linguistic make-up of the people-groups there. The other men are similarly suited to the work in their areas and are now making plans for more recording work.

With 1600 languages and dialects in India, a great deal of poverty, a high level of illiteracy and a very strong attachment to traditional religions, there is indeed a lot of work for GRN, other missions and churches to do.

In Nepal, the political situation has been very difficult in recent years, hampering the work of GRN. But, the team there is very committed to the work and continues to play its part in the growth of the church.

The training took a full month and the men responded very well to it, quickly getting used to the SD722 recorder and to the new editing procedures.
