Challenge Summary:
Single Click Solution to download a batch of MP3 files to a mobile device.
The Challenge:
GRN makes its audio programs available in MP3 format. Each program typically contains a large number of MP3 files (eg 40). The programs are primarily targeted at mobile users who do not have a device that supports a known convenient method for downloading all files for a program in a single batch. Most devices do not support ZIP files and it is not desirable to build a custom application that will run on the device for this purpose. We are looking for a solution that will run from our mobile website to enable them to download the full program in a single click (or at least not requiring the onerous task of downloading each track one at a time).
The details:
JavaScript support is pretty poor on the devices targeted. It may be impossible to get this to work on all mobile devices, however if it can work on a significant proportion that would be excellent. Typical devices are the wide range of Nokia and Samsung phones. For example:
These phones have a WAP 2.0/xHTML browser with MIDP 2.0 or 2.1 Java support.
