Mon 1 Aust: Give God thanks for Director Graydon Colville. Commit him and Wendy to the Lord for the coming year. Pray for guidance concerning Graydon's travel plans for 2010. Continue to ask God to provide all that is necessary for the growth of GRN Australia.
Tue 2 Aust: Rob McDonell (Business Manager) continues to upgrade the GRN Web site so that it can accommodate multi languages. Wira Dharma is a blessing in the office as he deals with the accounts.
Wed 3 Aust: Simon and Veronica Beech (GRN USA members) who married last year, have been receiving update training from Noel Bachelor before they return to the GRN recording work in Peru. Mary Bachelor has new responsibilities as she works in reception and sales in the Sydney office.
Thu 4 PNG: Remember Nickson and Grace Soal, based in Mount Hagen. Sybil Shaw asks prayer for the recordings that she made last year in PNG as they are sent to the SIL language helpers for assessment and use with their people this month. She has been asked to make more recordings later this year.
Fri 5 Vanuatu/Solomon Islands: Chris and Cheryl Mason and the children spent Christmas with family in Victoria. Pray for them as the children settle back into school in Port Vila. Chris also needs prayer as he organises a recording trip to Malekula and Santo Islands. Pray for Jones Sanga as he distributes materials in the Solomon Islands, where recent earthquakes caused damage and anxiety.
Sat 6 Philippines: The distribution, recording and evaluation in Kalinga province last November resulted in very encouraging responses. Over 150 received the recordings in 10 language groups. Pray that the power of the Christian message will help deliver this province from bondage and fear caused by many unsolved murders. Director Jurine Tolentino asks us to pray for a couple from Kalinga province who have volunteered to promote the work of GRN in the Cordillera Region of Luzon.
Sun 7 Aust: Alex Shaw asks prayer as he negotiates with GRN directors to organise recordist training courses for 2010. Pray for finances, preparation and availability of trainers. Alex gives thanks to God for a good report following a recent angiogram. Continue to pray for good health for him and for Sybil in their busy schedules. Pray for their ministry to Korean friends who attend their home Bible study group.
Mon 8 India: Swapan Roy's team in Kolkata plan to make recordings in at least 12 unreached languages. That will mean at least six trips to line up their work in the states of Rajasthan, Himalayan Hills, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa.
Tue 9 India: Pray for funds necessary to carry out the programs delayed from last year. Swapan writes, "Pray for God's Holy Spirit to anoint all our language helpers and their listeners. Pray also for the main-line churches to open their doors to our work."
Wed 10 Bangladesh: From 11-15 Feb., Habib and Ranjan plan to go to the Ranikhong Mission to promote the use of GRN materials. Then from 16-19th, they go to the Garo Baptist Convention. HELP Bangladesh (the LRI ministry for needy children and widows) will celebrate 20 years of ministry on the 20th Feb. Join David Halder and the GRN team in this time of praise for all that has been accomplished in Christ's Name.
Thu 11 Nepal: Praise God for 'Trekabout', the successful short term mission to Nepal in December 2009. Pray that some of those who went will develop an ongoing interest in the country. Pray also that the many recordings and tracts distributed will continue to be used and that people will come to faith in Jesus as a result.
Fri 12 SW Asia: Director, Sam, wrote in December, "We have been threatened by ... (a radical Muslim group) with violence at Christmas. In response we have cancelled their plans in prayer! We have also planned to increase our distribution throughout the land. ... Please pray for all the wisdom and resources we need ..." Praise God for protection for the team so far. They also asked prayer for the translation and recording of the Good News and LLL series in the D..... M.... language.
Sat 13 Aust: Kim and Meryl Knight have set up their GRN office in Esperance, Western Australia. Meryl has been digitizing some old cassette recordings so that they are available for distribution on CDs and MP3 players etc. They ask us to pray as they make plans to record languages in Central Australia. Ruth Elliott in Sydney has been busy scanning paperwork for the recordings on which Meryl is working.
Sun 14 Myanmar: Pray for a local missionary distributing recently-made recordings in the G... language. The monks in that area are opposed to the Gospel and any who follow Jesus are likely to be driven out. Pray for a language helper from the K... language area who is very close to accepting the Lord for himself. Al is building a new home which will mean a separate office for GRN will be required. Pray for minimum disruption to the work and for God's blessing on Al and his family as they serve in a very difficult environment.
Mon 15 Aust: David Miller, our IT specialist, manages the GRN intranet that aims to help communication within the network. Pray for him as he continues to upgrade and improve the system. Katrina is responsible for the dispatch of the regular publications such as 'Rejoice' and 'Inside Tracks'. She requests prayer for her mother as it is just one year since her father passed away.
Tue 16 Aust/NZ: Remember Beryl Matete (now in New Zealand) and Royalene Edwards as they seek to promote the work in the coming year. Thank God for volunteer worker, Ruth Coleman, who is using her graphic design skills to help produce the 'Inside Tracks'. Helen Gemeren compiles the information for 'Rejoice' each month. Pray for these ladies today.
Wed 17 Aust: Remember the GRN Board Members as they meet together this evening. Gordon Beaver, Stan Weekley and Joan Wilson, who have all contributed much to the work in years past, all went to be with the Lord recently.
Thu 18 Aust: Graham Schabel says, "Pray with us for guidance concerning improvements to the Saber player and our plans for production over the next 12 months". Darren and Elise Cooper are speaking about their work at their church on Sun 21st. Pray for them and for more deputation opportunities.
Fri 19 Aust: Andrew Francis asks for prayer for an order of 500 hundred SABERS on its way to Kenya; that it will arrive safely. Nellie Francis has ongoing eye problems, but they give praise to God for their improved health, especially while Nellie was away on Trekabout in Nepal.
Sat 20 NW Africa: Please remember Abraham who distributes GRN materials. Their church was broken into and everything taken. Pray for him and the family as they trust the Lord for their finances and daily protection.
Sun 21 Kenya: Praise God for the provision of a vehicle for Boaz. His target for 2010 is to make recordings in 7 new languages (4 in Tanzania and 3 in Kenya). Pray for funds to meet this need. Pray for the use of the 1,000 SABER players that Winston Omenya is sending to a mission working in Southern Sudan. He plans 4 outreaches to northern Kenya this year and a trip to Uganda.
Mon 22 Guinea: Due to political unrest in Guinea, Etienne and his helpers could not fulfil plans for a distribution project in Guinea Bissau. They hope to succeed this year. In spite of the local unrest, they did complete their distribution activities in Guinea. Pray that the situation will mean listeners receptive to the message of hope.
Tue 23 Burkina Faso: The government has recently released land to resettle those affected by floods last year. GRN Burkina would love to purchase some of that land for a permanent location for the GRN office. Please pray for Director Jacques Nignan and for God's will to be done and provision of what is needed.
Wed 24 Liberia: In December, John Deguah conducted an outreach with over 200 church leaders in the Suehn district in an effort to reach the Mandingo, Kpelle and Gola people. Pray for effective follow-up.
Thu 25 Germany/Holland: Rejoice with Lisa Engle, a long time worker, who married Steven Andrews on Dec. 30th. Continue to pray for Roeli Elbers, still recovering from heart surgery last year.
Sat 26 Spain: Carlos and Elizabeth Villamil are the GRN workers in Spain. They planned to distribute recordings of 'The Word of Life' among foreign farm workers in January-February 2010. Carlos also translates 'Rejoice' into Spanish. He wrote, "I want to encourage prayer and praise for GRN in the Spanish parts of the world."
Fri 27 USA: Pray for the Board and management of GRN USA as they continue to cope with reduced income and the many demands of the Centres that are funded from the US office. Pray for wisdom and for God's provision.
Sun 28 Mexico: Each year following Christmas, GRN Mexico holds a month-long outreach in the migrant worker camps near Culiacan. Over 100 dialects are spoken by the Indians. The poverty and neglect of the children is distressing. Dave and Gerry Gutierrez sent out thousands of prayer cards urging Christians to pray. Consequently, they saw evidence of God's healing as people responded to the Gospel message. Read more.
